How We Handle Funds
How We Handle Funds
Green Leaf Kenya is a registered community-based organization in Homa Bay County, Kenya (October 2024). We are a young organization preparing our first pilot, and we believe transparency is something you practice from day one – not something you add after you grow.
Our allocation principle. At least 70% of expenditures go to program implementation. Up to 15% supports institutional development, and up to 15% supports monitoring, learning, communications, and prudent reserves.
What funds do right now. Until the REALI pilot launches, gifts fund launch preparation: the community baseline assessment, professional site assessments, and the first demonstration systems. Our software and communications tools are covered by in-kind technology grants, so financial gifts go to the field work.
Oversight. Finances are overseen by our Finance Director & Treasurer and reviewed by the board. Donations are received only into accounts held in the organization’s name (KCB Bank Kenya and our Lipa na KCB paybill, which displays “Green Leaf Kenya” on payment confirmation).
Receipts and records. Every donation is acknowledged and receipted (accounts@greenleafkenya.org for any receipt or payment query). Financial records are kept in line with Kenyan record-keeping obligations.
Reporting. We publish what we are working on, and as the pilot proceeds we will share simple, honest updates on what funds have done – because you deserve to know what your gift made possible.
Questions about any of this are welcome: accounts@greenleafkenya.org.
